When we think about the future of the world, we always have in mind its being at the place where it would be if it continued to move as we see it moving now. We do not realize that it moves not in a straight line, but in a curve, and that its direction constantly changes.

HareDuck painted by Luwig Wittgnsein. Suggestive question? May be you imagine nothing of that kind. May be the picture simulated Santa Claus in disguise. Virtual as your noetic perception is constructed you “ think “ a “ thing “ like a new cosmic order and the Earth in between.

But even the painting on the wall behind,
Itself an accident of shattered symmetries,
Is only half eclipsed by his transparencies
                                                                                                              Of hierarchy and order,
                                                                                                              And the history of thought.
